Wilmington-based residential real estate firm Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage surpassed $ 3 billion in closed sales for 2021 on Monday, officials said.
The milestone includes sales outside of the Cape Fear Tri-County area, in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties, with Onslow, Carteret and Craven counties sales also being part of the mix. The company has 22 offices in North Carolina.
The company announced in August that it exceeded $ 2 billion in sales for the third year in a row. Most of the sales were for single family homes, condos, townhouses and land.
CEO Tim Milam gave Denise Kinney a lot of credit for the $ 3 billion mark. Kinney became chairman of Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage in May while the previous chairman, Milam, served as CEO.
“She did a phenomenal job bringing our business for the first time in history to $ 3 billion and 10,000 sides closed,” Milam said. “She has also done a phenomenal job with our staff, agents, management and the public.”
Kinney said one of the reasons for this success was the focus his company and agents placed on customer service and the fact that agents “have handled the complexities that the market has presented this year with the utmost professionalism. “.
These complexities included, of course, the ongoing challenges of showing off properties and working in person with clients and sellers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kinney said. On top of that, there was a lack of inventory of existing homes, especially in lower prices, and issues with new construction, resulting from labor and supply chain shortages. in disturbed materials, she said.
But Southeastern North Carolina has remained a popular destination and appears to be gaining popularity with homebuyers, from retirees to young professionals working remotely. By comparison, Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage sold 8,900 units and had $ 2.3 billion in sales around the same time last year, Kinney said.
Founded in 1988, the company currently has 815 agents and continues to grow, with the most recent offices opening in Boiling Spring Lakes and near St. James in Brunswick County.
Kinney said, “We are continuously working to provide additional resources and tools to help our agents better serve their clients and this year’s accomplishments are a testament to the success of our efforts. ”
