How are you going to tell the difference?

You will be responsible for purchasing goods and services for the School of Applied Science, ensuring that the School continues to provide a high level of support to our staff and students. You will monitor and maintain adequate levels of office materials, goods and supplies, as well as more specialized supply requests, to ensure stock levels are maintained at all times, while managing the efficient administration of all purchasing activities.

You will use your extensive administrative skills to ensure that all required documents are received and collated in a timely manner, that all invoices for goods received are processed appropriately, and that proper records of credit card transactions and authorizations are kept.

As the point of contact for all purchases of materials, goods and supplies for the School, you will be able to use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships not only with our stakeholders, but also with our suppliers.

Please note that the role will include some lifting of goods to deliver to end users.

What we will need from you

Holder of an HNC/HND or equivalent relevant experience, you will have:

  • Extensive demonstrable administrative experience.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Very good numeracy with knowledge and experience in the use of financial systems, eg Agresso and/or experience working in a financial environment.
  • Experienced and computer literate user of Microsoft packages, especially Access plus Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with confidence to communicate at all levels of the University, both orally and in writing.
  • Attention to detail combined with the ability to problem solve and adapt to change.
