SEREMBAN, October 27 – A kindergarten teacher has filed a police report claiming she lost RM69,030 when buying a Scottish fold cat online which cost only RM900.

Head of Commercial Criminal Investigations Department Negri Sembilan, Superintendent Aibee Abd Ghani, said the 25-year-old victim claimed to have bought the cat, from Indonesia, through a Facebook ad on October 23.

He said the woman claimed to have called the number on the ad and the two parties agreed on the price of RM900 for the cat with the buyer being required to pay half the price to deposit and the rest after delivery of the feline.

The woman made a deposit of RM450 into the account of a certain Tansiaupenga Siagian and was later informed that the cat had been sent to her, he said in a statement today.

He said the woman claimed she was, however, asked to make several other payments involved in the delivery process before she could get the cat.

“As a result, the victim claimed to have carried out 14 transactions involving RM69,030 on two accounts on October 23 and 24,” he added.

Aibee said the woman filed a police report yesterday after realizing she had been deceived and fearing that the personal information and home address she provided would be abused by irresponsible neighborhoods. – Bernama
