More than 1 million pesos are earmarked by Home Credit Philippines, a consumer finance technology company, to help victims of Super Typhoon Odette which devastated large parts of Visayas and Mindanao just days before Christmas.
This amount will be channeled through its partner agencies for the distribution of assistance in the field.
In an official statement, Home Credit said it had temporarily halted operations in areas affected by the typhoon. This means that the collection of loan payments will be temporarily suspended to give relief to customers affected by the recent disaster in government declared areas under Storm Signals 3 and 4. “In the meantime, My Home Credit App will continue to operate for your most-needed financial transactions during these times,” the statement added.
“We are one with our Kababayans who are affected by the typhoon,” says Sheila Paul, Marketing Director of Home Credit Philippines. “We will take up this challenge together,” she adds.
In addition, Home Credit has allocated a budget to provide financial relief to its affected employees based in southern provinces that were in the path of the typhoon. He called for an internal donation campaign and the amount raised will be matched by the company to pool funds for Odette’s victims among its employees.
“We continue to monitor the situation of our employees and we are able to provide them with assistance as soon as possible,” said Alpha Omega Aquino, director of human resources for the company.
Home Credit Philippines has already served over 8 million Filipinos, enabling them to support themselves through various consumer credit products.
